storm chasing

We had a pretty big thunderstorm roll through town today, so Brian and I tried to find the worst of it.  Armed with The Weather Channel on our cell phones, and the nonsensical ramblings of talk radio weather updates, we drove into what we hoped was the epicenter of the tornado warning.  Only to be epiclly disapointed.

"severe flooding at saddle creek and leavenworth!" says the radio man.

We got there a few minutes later, and it had all drained.  The stranded vehicles had already been moved.  Dang.

"sewers overflowing at 50th and center! manhole covers washed away exposing open holes!"

We arrive just in time for the police to put them back.
Dang.

Wheres the cities emergency response time in the winter?

We did manage to find this house that had just been struck by lighting.  The homeowner thought she smelled gas, so there were 6 firetrucks on hand.  It turned out to be a false alarm, so everyone went on their jolly way.
