Throwback Thursday! Super Spectacular Edition!
part of the reason i love skateboarding is the diversity of the people involved. theres so many different personalities and styles, that you never know what you'll get. heres three photos from August 2007 of three very different personalities.

Conspiracy Theory
besides the fact that Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes is easily the greatest idea for a show ever, does anyone else think that the tricks that the skateboarder in this intro video does look suspicously like Bart Simpsons in The Simpsons intro? i'll let you be the judge.
as it turns out, the original Simpsons intro is kind of hard to find on the internet. or else im feeling lazy. so, while this video doesnt at all prove my point, its still worth a look. its the Banksy Intro!

everybody's wasting time learning how to dougie. all the cool kids know that dance videos peaked in 1987 when Was (Not Was) taught us how to Walk The Dinosaur.
Waste Deep
shot today with AJ Racinelli, Trevor Bashir, Todd Watson, and Tyler Trant.. all killers. Norbi was filming, so be sure to check him out for some gnarly footage.
Todd, i love your riding, but you make some ridiculous faces when you hit rails.

Dear Wakeboarding...
i think youre nice, but...
-stop trying to strap cameras onto everything. helmets, poles, your board, your friends, and now poles attached to backpacks. its lazy and unoriginal. if thats all you do, you are no longer a "filmer". riders can strap cameras onto themselves, so we dont need you anymore.
-intros. we're all aware that everytime you go ride, you have to wake up early, walk down to the dock, put gas in the boat, lower the boat, load gear into the boat, and jump in the water. this doesnt have to be included in your video. i will allow some leway for full length videos, but for your 3 minute web video, please spare us. also, we've all seen trees and weeds before. theres no need to show us more.
-flat spins on boxes. if i built a 400 foot long box, im sure 95 percent of riders could spin all the way down it. it takes little to no skill. try steezing out a press. it looks cooler.
-stop trying to be dramatic. slowing down a frontboard on a rail when you come off early doesnt make you any less of a kook.
-your music taste sucks. quit using music that sounds like moby threw up all over animal collective.
-there is no such thing as "90 out" on a box or rail. its called "fakie" or "to regular". if youre going to tell us you're 90ing out of a slide, why not tell us youre 90ing into a slide? for example, "frontside 90 in boardslide frontside 90 out". sounds pretty dumb doesnt it. you can just say "boardslide to fakie" or maybe "boardslide to switch".
-have fun. quit taking yourselves so seriously. im sure most of you are aware that the rest of the action/boardsports community barely knows you exist. if youre not having fun, nobody is ever going to take you seriously.

OTA Rail Park Is Getting Legit
If you havent heard already, the rail park that Danny Thollander is building is the kind of thing you'd build if you had any ambition whatsoever. So quit waiting for the sun to get more orange and get to work, because progression doesnt happen on its own.

Throwback Thursday!
Kelly McManus wallride at the now defunct China Wall in Omaha, August 2007. I remember that when we went to shoot this photo, it was 10oclock at night and absurdly humid. So much so that when I took my camera out of my car, all of my lenses fogged over. It took a half hour for everything to acclimate before we could shoot.

That About Sums It Up Right Now
There's more that rises in the morning than the sun
And more that shines in the night than just the moon
There's more than just this fire here that keeps me warm
In a shelter that is larger than this room
And there's a loyalty that's deeper than mere sentiments
And a music higher than the songs that I can sing
Stuff of Earth competes for the allegiance
I owe only to the Giver of all good things
So if I stand let me stand on the promise that you will pull me through
And if I can't, let me fall on the grace that first brought me to You
So if I sing let me sing for the joy that has born in me these songs
And if I weep let it be as a man who is longing for his home
And there's more that dances on the prairies than the wind
And more that pulses in the ocean than the tide
There's a love that's fiercer than the love between friends
More gentle than a mother's when her baby's at her side
And there's a loyalty that's deeper than mere sentiments
And a music higher than the songs that I can sing
The stuff of Earth competes for the allegiance
I owe only to the Giver of all good things

Happy Throwback Thursday!
Its thursday (again), which means im posting an old photo from back in the DAY. lets get nostalgic!
Jeff Fowler ollies the taco bell stairs, while Bryan Findell, and Gangster Jay watch (circa June 2007).
later in this same session, Jeff frontboarded the handrail. the photo of that trick became a full page photo in the now-defunct Stuck Magazine.
In music news, everyone in the southern/middle US should check out my good friends Vago as they tour Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Colorado!

"To tell you the truth, I'm not that into it"
Mark Gonzales personifies why skateboarding will always be my favorite thing ever. So today is dedicated to him.
First up, is a video that was in the extras of the Fourstar tour video "SuperChampionFunzone". Its a day in the life of the Gonz.
Next is Marks part from the groundbreaking 1991 Blind video "Video Days".
And finally, Marks part from the 2006 video "Krooked Kronichles". If this doesnt make you want to go skate, then I dont know why youre even visiting my blog (note: thank you for visiting my blog. I appreciate all of my readers. please dont leave)

almostly epic, trick frisbees, and gangsta link (or nerdy busta)
Reed's really interested in this instructional frisbee video for some reason...
And because I havent posted new music or videos in a wHile, heres a mix by Team Teamwork. If youre not familiar with them, they do lots of good remixes, most notably smashing together rap with music from The Legend of Zelda. In this selection, Busta Rhymes visits Gerudo Valley.

Throwback Thursday! Also other things! WOooOO! (party time)
First of all, happy Throwback Thursday everyone. Im still in the process of making this a recognized national holiday, but no luck so far. I blame Obama.
Anyways... onward, upward, and forever twirling.... TWIRLING!
This here is the FIRST Soop video we ever made. Filmed in Marvelous Hi8 Video, and edited IN CAMERA (the pinnacle of analog technology!). The opening card with everyones name was made in Mario Paint. You can faintly see my reflection, since I just pointed the camera at the screen. We were high tech back then. So, without further achoo, I present The Soop Video, featuring Jacob and Josh Fitzgarrald, Bryan Findell, Dave Giesbrecht, and Wade Harvey.
drumroll please.......
Boy, that was fun... right?
Anyways, lets bring it back down. Congratulations to my friend and roommate Scott Stewart for winning Buywake.com's Global Rider Search. Scotts gonna get HOOKED UP with all sorts of dope sponsors. You should check out his video...
Ok everyone... have a nice day!
